![]() The High Elf inheritance lets you replace the additional skill proficiencies with another trait of the other elves, so you can choose the High Elf one and pick the Booming Blade cantrip. You can go Half-Elf with an High Elf inheritance (I don't remember where this is from, maybe Volo or Mordekainen), you get the usual Half-Elf features including a +2 to Charisma (almost useless) and +1 to 2 stats you want (nice), so you can increase your main ability scores from the 15 from point buy to 16. You might as well build another character if you go 5 levels into another class to get Extra Attack imo.īut you can get a good melee scaling cantrip in some ways. Getting Extra Attack requires several levels in another class. At level 5 things start to scale up and you pretty much need Extra Attack or a cantrip that scales. The problem with this build is that Shillelagh doesn't scale like other cantrips so the build is viable until level 5. ![]() If you want to do both, I don't have any ideas that haven't already been mentioned. ![]() If you want to be a Druid, I suppose the spell Flame Blade would be good, but that would defeat the purpose of using shillelagh, seemingly. #WOOD SHILLELAGH FREE#War, Tempest, and Zeal from Plane Shift are also good gish domains, but you don't get the free cantrips, so you'd have to pick them up from MI, but that means you either have to ditch GFB, or pump INT, making you MAD again (which, presumedly, you'd want to avoid if you're basing your character around shillelagh). ![]() You could use this to select shillelagh, and then go Arcana cleric, which is considered by some the best class in the game already, and select Green flame blade as one your Wizard spells which you can use Wis for, and have the other one either be Firebolt (and pick of Booming blade with Magic initiate), or ditch magic initiate and make your second free cantrip Booming blade (MI wizard cantrips are dependent on Int, but BB doesn't depend on any stat, so it's better to select cantrips dependent on your spell-casting ability for your free Arcana Domain cantrips IMO). They get a Str bonus instead of a Wis bonus, however. If you only want shillelagh, Grugach elves from Unearthed Arcana can get one druid cantrip as their racial ability. Are you trying to build a character around shillelagh, or are you trying to build a gish druid, or both? I'd hate to give you advise on something you didn't want. ![]()
